Internal Systems Department

Internal Systems with its two teams working from Alex office and Cairo office is responsible of handling core functionalities providing up to date availability and pricing information of both books and media items, to different entities and market places.
All programs and applications are developed in Java using MySql as the database engine.

Open Source Department

This department consists of more than one team working on different web projects targeting different end entities like sellers, customers and books or media providers, providing them with gateways to The Book Depository availabilities and offers, each according to his business scope and demands.

It's their role to provide robust light weight web applications that can easily get integrated with external business demands, modules and clients, facilitating communication through various services and professional, easy to use web portals.
Technology used is PHP on Zend Framework and MySql as the database engine.

.NET Department

Consists of more than one team; working on various desktop applications, web applications, and mobile applications. They make use of the up to date Microsoft technologies to provide creative services targeting all levels of internet users.
C# is the basic programming language used and MS SQL server as database engine.

Media and User Experience Department

Serves all branches and departments of Elkotob with media and user experience needs, to maintain quality level and usability expectations within the company's products. The scope of work includes interactive media, UI design, and general design.

Operations Departments

  • Customer Service Department:
    Interacting with customers online (via email)to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns and requests about products and services.
  • Ordering Department:
    Administrating the daily online sales orders and associated data entry, Monitor & Controls the whole electronic fulfillment process starting from collecting & gathering online customers' orders from online marketplace channels to items delivery to the customers.

Human Resources Department

Guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire company. The major areas directed are:

  • organization development
  • employment and compliance to regulatory concerns
  • employee orientation, development, and training
  • policy development and documentation
